Role Overview
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides direct and supervisory support for individuals and families, focusing on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The BCBA develops, implements, and evaluates behavior plans, ensuring effective treatment for individuals with developmental disorders. This role includes conducting function analyses, assessments, and teaching life skills. The BCBA also manages the work of associate behavior analysts and provides ongoing support and supervision to Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in carrying out and documenting Behavior Support Plans. In addition, the BCBA trains and oversees staff to ensure consistent application of ABA principles and reports to the Director of Behavior Supports.
Qualifications
To qualify as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), a person must meet the following requirements:

Master’s degree in Special Education or related human services field.

Successful completion of internship/training in behavior analysis, working with children who have developmental disorders.

Certified as a BCBA for a minimum of 2 years.

Knowledge of ABA methodologies, including discrete trial training (DTT) and natural environment training.

Ability to work with children of varying ages and needs.
Roles and Responsibilities

Provide oversight and support to direct support professionals (DSP) and behavior support teams.

Develop and implement behavior acquisition and reduction procedures.

Conduct functional assessments and analyses.

Supervise the implementation of ABA strategies and ensure appropriate data collection.

Review and sign off on treatment plans and provide ongoing support to staff.

Stay current with research and continuing education to maintain BCBA certification.
